Our Wedding Vows

Igor, my Love, I love you so much. I believe that God has led me to you and I am confident that His will is being fulfilled today. You are more than I deserve. You are a gift from above.
I never knew that I can love and be loved by someone so much on this earth until I met you.

Today I promise you my faithfulness, to follow you through all of life’s experiences as you follow God, that together we may grow in the likeness of Christ and our home be a praise to Him. I pray that He molds me to be the wife of your dreams, but more importantly a wife in whom He is pleased. I will cover you in prayers. I will speak words of kindness and not criticism. I will honor and respect you as the spiritual head of our home. I will support you in good times and in bad and I will build you up when life weighs you down. I will encourage you to always walk into God’s purpose of your life. From the depth of my being, I will seek to be open and honest with you. And I say these things believing that God is in the midst of them all.

Quoting the Book of Ruth 1:16-17 I’m telling this to you,

“Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God.”

Me (Igor)

Elina Ozolina. I wish I could say that from the moment I saw you, I fell in love with you and I knew you were the one, but this isn’t true. I did see you as incredibly beautiful and down to earth, full of smiles and laughter, and we instantly connected and quickly became best friends. Even though I wasn’t planning to give away my heart to you, God had other plans. To this day I thank him and question why he has blessed me so much with you. You are more than what I would ever wish to ask God for. Once I saw how much you love God, I knew that I would never want to let you go.

I promise to Treasure, Lead, Respect, Cherish, Protect, Be Faithful, and give myself up for you as Christ gave himself up for his bride. I promise to love you till the last day of my life, whatever God chooses for us to provide, and for Him in our marriage to be glorified. I am looking forward to spending time with you as my wife right by my side. Elina, you are the love of my life, my best friend and my bride.

And to quote one of my absolute favorite Pastors, John Piper from his book, that we both read, “This Momentary Marriage”:

“Staying married, therefore, is not about staying in love. It is about keeping covenant. “Till death do us part,” or, “As long as we both shall live” is sacred covenant promise—the same kind Jesus made with his bride when he died for her.”
